What if things go right?

What’s the opposite of sycophants?

A lot of us can agree that it’s not a good idea to surround ourselves with people who’ll only say yes to us.

How about the other extreme though? You know, people who consistently undermine us, who shoot down our ideas, who call us naive, who always “play Devil’s advocate”?

I think many of us surround ourselves with too many people on this extreme, because with our negativity bias it’s easy to justify that as “just being realistic.”

In the spirit of being realistic, don’t forget to take into account the good stuff too. So many people can paint super vivid, detailed pictures of things going wrong, yet only have very broad strokes when I ask, “What if things go right?”

Seriously, what if things go right?
